Timber from the heart of Dorset

Direct from the woods. We fell, extract, mill and sell timber. We also design and make structures and products from our timber.

We are a family run business milling timber to order as part of an ancient woodland restoration.

We love the smell of freshly sawn timber in the morning..!

Our timber yard stocks a variety of sawn timber. Douglas Fir is taken straight from the woodland next to the yard and is milled by our skilled and dedicated team to a variety of dimensions.

We can also supply green Oak, Larch, Western Red Cedar, Spruce etc.

Just get in touch with your timber and cutting list requirements.

We like creating things too.

We have had the pleasure of working with customers on a variety of projects- including designing and building pergolas, field shelters, garden rooms, decking, gates, fencing and cladding.

If you have even just the inkling of an idea, or plans already drawn up - drop us a line and we’ll work out how we can build it in our beautiful timber.

Our story

The Conygar Timber Company story started a few years ago with a forester friend of ours, who had been taking wind blown trees from local woods, which we were milling to use for bespoke artisan garden joinery- making pergolas, gates, fences and furniture.

A customer had commissioned a big pergola and deck in early 2020 and then lockdown happened, leaving us with a lot of milled timber, no immediate use for it and no projects for the summer. So, with our customer’s blessing, we advertised the timber…and sold it. That was the start of milling timber to sell to local businesses and households and how Conygar Timber Company Limited was born.

Around the same time, the woodland next to our yard had plans and licences approved to start a woodland restoration project. This involves taking out an hectare of the wood a year and replanting it back to broadleaf- to regenerate the woodland. All of the Douglas Fir we mill has come from that woodland ever since.

Our aim is to take local timber and supply local businesses, organisations and households with locally grown, high quality, sawn timber. We are also passionate about the need to replant our woodlands so future generations can continue to use home-grown timber.
